As we approach our annual Resilient Warrior Project fundraiser this Friday, I wanted to share the incredible outlook we have going into our 2024 campaign. Last year, we held this same event, and it was a huge success. We raised a lot of money and created amazing networks to help our community. The funds we raised helped launch our Resilient Warrior Project, an initiative built on forging bonds and everlasting tribes within our military communities. This year, we look to double down on what we have created and add in our Veteran and Gold Star Family retreat initiative. We have three unbelievable retreats planned in South Carolina, New York, and Wyoming. These retreats will all be unique, filled with their own events, explorations, and good times. We will be sending our nations Veterans and Gold Star Families on these retreats, all expenses paid. Once they attend one, they will automatically be grandfathered into our program every single year. This will help create and foster unbreakable bonds and will rebuild our networks, to ensure our communities have the ability to prosper. Two years ago, America witnessed an atrocity at HKIA during the drawdown of Afghanistan. Quite frankly, a very preventable situation. The Freedom Ride is a scenic 60 mile motorcycle ride dedicated to the late Mario Scolaro, US Army Veteran and Rockland native. Mario had a vision before his passing to create an event to honor his fellow Veterans and our local law enforcement & first responders. He designed this ride to be something special for everyone in the area to enjoy, to remember those who serve this great nation, and to help our local community thrive. A message from our Founder & CEO: A priceless painting. On September 23rd, we completed our Hero Project event at Rafele Restaurant in Rye, NY. The night was wildly successful on many accords. Prior to the event, we linked up with Lynn Mara, an incredible artist, and person. Lynn graciously offered to add an auction item and paint a picture that encapsulates the foundation as a whole, tying in the modern Soldier with our experiences and inception. Before the night started, we placed all of our auction items in the back room, to be carted out accordingly. I remember this painting finally being revealed to me, and having no words to express my surprise and gratitude. Within this painting are many subtle pieces that hit our inception, experiences, and even the coordinates to our 13 fallen during the drawdown of Afghanistan. Front and center of this painting are me and my oldest son, Joey. This picture was taken during an interview when I touched ground on US soil, after my last and final deployment to Afghanistan. I left shortly after Joey was born, and I returned when he was 1 year old. This painting represents the past two decades of intense combat, in overwhelmingly austere environments, and every sacrifice our warriors and their families have made, asking for nothing in return. It represents the selfless service our military families endure, wondering if their loved ones will ever be seen again. Thank you God for letting me come home, bring my Soldiers home, and allow us all to be with our loved ones and raise our children. Many of our brothers and sisters were not afforded that opportunity, paying the ultimate sacrifice for this country. What is even more incredible, is that this painting was auctioned at a very generous price, and immediately gifted back to the foundation, and ultimately, to myself. I will keep their name anonymous, although I hope that when you read this, you understand my sincere gratitude for this gift. It truly shows your character and that of your family. Lynn, you are more than an artist, you are sincere, genuine, talented, and a fabulous person. I am honored and grateful to call you a friend. #usa #veteran #art
